The North Carolina Zoo in AsheboroNORTH CAROLINA- The North Carolina Zoo is located in Asheboro, North Carolina, and is home to more than 1,800 different animals from over 250 species. The animals in the zoo are mostly from North America and Africa. It is one of two state-supported zoos in the United States, the other being the Minnesota Zoo.

 The NC Zoo is large, with plenty of space for children to play.  It is advisable to bring a stroller if you're taking young children. Several walking paths are shaded. If you have trouble walking, shuttle buses can help you get around.

For those with young children, the zoo offers an African Pavilion where kids can view animals and plants from a distance. Trams are also available to shuttle guests from one side of the park to the other. While trams are available for guests, wait times may be longer in the afternoon. Kids can also find hands-on fun in the Kids Zone and Garden Friends Playground.



The NC Zoo features more than 1,800 animals from 200 species. There are polar bears, sand cats, river otters, red wolves, black bears, and even the largest troop of chimpanzees in the U.S. and the largest troop of polar bears in the world. The zoo was designed to mimic the natural conditions of the habitats of each animal's habitat.


 Visiting North Carolina's Most Iconic Attractions - If you're a history buff, there are plenty of things to do in North Carolina. For example, you could spend a day at Biltmore Estate or take in a holiday event at the USS North Carolina Battleship. You could also visit the North Carolina Zoo or explore the Great Smoky Mountains. All of these things are great options for family vacations.
