Taking over a highly visible footprint at 93 Mathews Drive, the new supermarket is completely revitalizing the long-vacant former Sam's Club building located inside the bustling Port Royal Plaza.

To celebrate the Food Lion opening on November 11, the store is hosting a massive grand opening event for the local community. The morning kicks off with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for 7:45 AM. Eager shoppers will want to arrive early, as the store is offering major opening-day giveaways. The first 100 customers in line will receive a complimentary reusable shopping bag and a mystery gift card valued at up to $200.
The grand opening also has a strong charitable angle. For every person in line on opening morning, Food Lion Feeds will donate 10 meals to local partner agencies through its hunger relief platform. That's a concrete way to support local community members experiencing food insecurity.
