Visiting Point State Park in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, PA - Point State Park in Pittsburgh is a popular destination for locals and tourists. This park features several historical landmarks, including the forts of Fort Pitt and Fort Duquesne. These sites are essential to the city's history and are part of the Pittsburgh Renaissance District.

The park is also home to the Fort Pitt Museum, which provides information about the area's past.  It is open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm seven days a week. You can also take an audio tour of Fort Pitt.

Another attraction at the park is the 150-foot-tall fountain. This fountain is located at the confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela rivers. At the end of the fountain, you can see the Duquesne Incline.



Point State Park is the perfect place to enjoy nature in downtown Pittsburgh.  The park contains historical markers, a large 150-foot-tall fountain, and a riverfront promenade. If you want to visit the fountain, plan to visit early in the morning or late in the afternoon.

Visitors to the park are encouraged to wash their hands frequently. You should also avoid touching your eyes and nose. Fortunately, the public restrooms are kept clean.



In the past, Point State Park was known as a commercial slum, but over the years, the area has been revitalized.  Today, the park is a prime venue for cultural events. Several parking lots are available within walking distance of the park.

A number of museums are located in Point State Park, including the Fort Pitt Museum. The museum teaches visitors about the history of Pittsburgh and the role it played during the French and Indian War.
