Otro Café Is A Family-Run Restaurant Concept
The restaurant is helmed by local restaurateur Doug Robson, whose Mexico City roots inspire the menu. The brunch offerings are particularly enticing, with dishes like El Español, a medley of jamón serrano, avocado, and Cerignola olives, and elote callejero served with avocado. The barbacoa and eggs is also a must-try. Otro Café offers daily brunch service from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., making it a perfect choice for any day of the week.
Don't forget to stop by Otro's adjoining cafe, Otro Cafecito, where you can enjoy more coffee to wash down your brunch. The restaurant's name, Otro, is a play on words meaning "other" or "Otro Gallo," referencing their sister restaurant Gallo Blanco Café.
Otro Café is a family-run restaurant concept with a focus on Mexico City-style cuisine and fresh fusion interpretations. The menu features traditional and new world dishes made from locally sourced ingredients. Some highlights include street tacos, a mouthwatering weekend brunch, extensive vegetarian options, and a fully stocked bar.
Chef-owner Doug Robson, who was born and raised in Mexico City, draws inspiration from his diverse background. Raised by a French-Vietnamese mother and a Scottish-English father, his culinary influences go beyond his native city.
After leaving Mexico, Robson moved to San Antonio, Texas before coming to Arizona to attend the Scottsdale Culinary Institute. He worked with renowned chef Robert McGrath and at Michael's at the Citadel before opening his own restaurants, La Grande Orange and Chelsea's Kitchen. In 2009, he embarked on his own venture with Gallo Blanco and later opened Otro Café in 2013. Otro Café offers a familiar yet unique atmosphere and culinary experience that continues to captivate Phoenix locals and visitors alike.
