A free tour is available during certain times each day. However, it is not advisable for people with back or heart problems. There are scheduled tours every hour during business hours, Monday through Friday, and 10 am to 3 pm on Saturdays.

Kansas DomeThe dome is not the only impressive feature of the statehouse building. The interior is stunning and contains many murals and architectural details. It is the tallest building in the city—and the second tallest capitol dome in the United States. The dome is adorned with the Kansa warrior Ad Astra statue, which was erected at the top in 2002.

The Kansas Statehouse Dome has plenty of interesting graffiti. Some of the oldest dates to 1903, when the building was completed. However, some of the most impressive graffiti names are on the dome's underside, near the top. The dome has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1971.

Visiting the Statehouse Dome is a unique experience for any Topeka visitor. From the top, you will get a bird' s-eye view of the city. The tour begins on the fifth floor and takes you between the inner and outer domes. It is free, but reservations are recommended in the summer months.
