Stonewall Jackson Lake State Park
The state park near West Virginia's Stonewall Jackson Lake offers many ways to enjoy the great outdoors. The park features six hiking trails. The easiest is the mile-long Chipmunk Point Hike, which offers panoramic views of the lake and ridge. Another trail, the 1.5-mile Autumn Laurel Brook Trail, meanders along the lake and climbs a 200-foot ridge. The trails also offer access to the park's Turtle Shell Spring.
Harpers Ferry National Historical Park
The Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, known initially as Harpers Ferry National Monument, is a historical site in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. It is located at the confluence of the Shenandoah and Potomac rivers. It is considered one of the nation's most important historical sites.
Seneca Rocks State Park
The Seneca Rocks are a dramatic gorge surrounded by a lush forest. You can take a scenic hike through the Seneca Rocks State Park or dip in the river. A 1.3-mile trail offers stunning views of the surrounding area. It also offers a gift shop, classrooms, and an indoor rock climbing wall, if you're not into the outdoors. The Sites Homestead is also located close by. It is built with local materials and is open for visitors during daylight hours.
Snowshoe Mountain
Snowshoe Mountain is a ski resort located in Snowshoe, West Virginia. It has 244 acres of skiable terrain. The mountain is part of the Allegheny Mountains, which are part of the Appalachian Mountain Range. It is one of the most popular destinations for skiers in the eastern United States.
