Bell & Layton's Delicatessen Brings Classic NY-Style Deli to Jacksonville

Food Travel LogoFLORIDA - For nearly 20 years, Jacksonville has lived with the huge gap in the city's dining scene left by the closure of Worman's Bakery and Deli in 2009. A new concept is finally in the mix to bring back that much-loved, authentic deli experience.

Jacksonville Finally Gets a Proper New York-Style Deli After 17 Years

Bell & Layton's Delicatessen and Provisions has just opened in the Mandarin section of Jacksonville. It's taking over a 5,094 sq ft building at 10140 San Jose Blvd and is positioned to be the go-to place for traditional deli fare, sandwiches, and all manner of groceries in northeast FL.

Bagels, Pastrami, and Specialty Provisions

The kitchen at Bell & Layton's focuses on mastering the classics that make a proper deli so good. Expect a full menu of fresh, genuine bagels, excellent smoked lox, and house-brined pastrami that's right up there with the very best of New York style.

However, the vision for this huge space is much more than a counter-service restaurant. In keeping with the 'Provisions' in its name, it's planned to grow its retail offering to a full range of both kosher and non-kosher groceries. The retail element is intended to make it a real community store where people can come in for stacked pastrami on rye for lunch and also stock up on various specialist goods to take home.

Opening Details and What's Next

While the deli has had a few very limited soft openings recently for the local crowd to try the menu, Bell & Layton's Delicatessen and Provisions is currently finalizing the space on San Jose Blvd and is set to open fully and expanded next month. As they work on the space, they're also encouraging prospective customers to follow the business on Instagram for updates on new menu items, hours, and the official grand opening date.

Whether you're a long-time Jax resident still grieving the loss of Worman's or a new kid in town looking for a proper bagel and lox, the arrival of this massive deli and grocery is a real winner for the Mandarin community.
