Bass Pro Shops on the Pyramid of Memphis

This outdoor sporting goods company owns several other outdoor sporting venues.  They are the owners of the Pyramid of the Sun in Tampa, Florida, and the Pyramid in Nashville, Tennessee. They are the first stop when you enter Memphis from the west.

The Pyramid of Memphis opened in 1991. At that time, the Pyramid was designed as a giant open arena. Its exterior was bronze and glass. The stadium hosted various sporting events, including the University of Memphis basketball games. It also hosted the Memphis Pharaohs of the Arena Football League and the Memphis Grizzlies of the National Basketball Association.

The Pyramid of Memphis has been renovated. The building is now a four-star hotel. The rooms are decorated in vintage hunting camps and tree houses. There are private balconies and luxury bath amenities.

The Pyramid is also home to the Ducks Unlimited Waterfowling Heritage Center. This museum tells the story of waterfowl conservation. You can also ride on the elevator, the tallest free-standing elevator in North America. It takes you 283 feet up to an observation deck.

You can also explore the "cypress swamp," which includes dozens of live alligators. It also has fake moss-draped trees and winds between retail displays. There is also a "gator feeding" show every Saturday at 2 p.m.
