The upper King neighborhood is one of the most popular in Charleston and easily accessible. It has a rich history and is also home to some of the city's newest restaurants and hotspots. Visitors can spend a day window shopping or spend the night at one of the hot spots.
The Francis Marion Hotel, a historic landmark that opened its doors in 1924, is another historic building in the area. It's located on King Street, across from the Charleston Farmers' Market and Marion Square Park. It's within walking distance of downtown Charleston, and its southeast-facing rooms have scenic views of the Charleston Harbor.
King Street is also home to one of the city's best speakeasy-style bars, Prohibition. With a stunning round bar and a low-slung couch area, the cozy bar is an excellent spot for catching up with friends. Try a glass of champagne if you're a big spender, or get a flight of spirits if you're a bourbon connoisseur.
