A museum inside a jail is always creepy. The Old Jail Museum in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, is no exception. The two-story stone structure was once home to Carbon County's worst criminals. Unfortunately, it closed its doors in 1995 and was reopened by Tom McBride. The building houses an educational exhibit and is a popular tourist attraction. The Old Jail Museum is comprised of 72 rooms and 27 cells. You'll find the dungeon cells on the basement floor, used as solitary confinement until 1980. You'll also find the women's cells on the 2nd floor and the warden's living quarters.
You can explore the old jail by visiting the Jim Thorpe, PA museum. The museum is in a historic building with two stories and is easily accessible from the town. There's no need to drive far to visit the Old Jail Museum. You can also check out the Hex House nearby if you're staying in town. It's a great place to see a prison, but make sure you take a friend along.
