Visiting The Mermaids of Weeki Wachee
The show is free to watch. There is also a gift shop. It is open every day from 9 am to 5 pm. You can also take photos with the mermaids.
Mermaids of Weeki Wachee are the incarnations of Hans Christian Anderson's "The Little Mermaid". The modern mermaids perform an underwater version of the story, using free-flowing air tubes for oxygen.
The show features a 400-seat theater. Visitors can expect to see a variety of theme shows. Some include Alice in Waterland, Mermaids on the Moon, and Pocahontas Meets the Little Mermaid.
In addition to the mermaids, there are other attractions to see at the park. Buccaneer Bay, for example, is a water slide attraction that is a great way to have some fun in the water. Another option is the River cruise.
The Weeki Wachee mermaids are half fish, half human. They wear white face masks and white fins. Their SCUBA training ensures that they can safely perform underwater.
The show's performers are sometimes joined by natives of the springs. Sometimes they even encounter snakes.
You can also catch the mermaids' daily practice session. These are free and are an excellent opportunity to learn more about the history and culture of the mermaids.
