Where to Find the Iconic Rocky Statue and Steps in Philadelphia

The Rocky Statue and Steps are located at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, one of the largest art museums in the United States.  The statue stands at the bottom of the museum's 72 stone steps, facing the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The museum's address is 2600 Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia, PA 19130.

History

The statue, created by A. Thomas Schomberg was initially commissioned for the movie "Rocky III." After filming, Sylvester Stallone, who portrayed Rocky Balboa, donated the statue to the City of Philadelphia. It was initially placed at the top of the steps, but it was moved to the front of the Spectrum Arena due to concerns about its artistic value. In 2006, the statue was returned to its rightful place at the bottom of the museum steps, where it has remained ever since.
