The Big Well in Greensburg Kansas

The Big Well is 109 feet deep and 32 feet wide, making it the world's largest hand-dug water well.  There's even a spiral staircase down into the well. Located at 315 S. Sycamore, the Big Well is open to the public Monday through Saturday and Sundays from noon until 6 pm. Originally used for local water supply, the well served the town until 1932, when it was designated as a museum. It has since received over three million visitors. It is now one of the 8 Wonders of Kansas.

Besides being a museum, the Big Well is also a place to see local history. A visitor center houses vintage Big Well souvenirs and significant debris. You can also see a clock that stopped when Greensburg was destroyed. But don't make this your only reason for visiting Greensburg.
