Do You Need a Passport to Visit Hawaii?
The main issue for travelers from overseas is that you’ll need a valid passport to enter the United States, regardless of where in the US your destination is (so if you have a US citizenship, you don’t need a passport). Documents for travel to/from Hawaii and within the Hawaiian Islands are the same for any other U.S. state. If you are flying to Hawaii within the United States, you only need a valid government photo ID.
However, when flying to Hawaii, be aware of two separate immigration screening lines for people from overseas and those with permanent residency. These lines will differ from those for U.S. citizens; be sure to follow the arrows directing you towards the correct line.
